I recently took the Shooting in Low Light class. The instructor was terrific and a really nice guy. His background and experience as a trainer was evident. He provided very relevant information and great training on the range. I recommend this class. The range also is really nice. Has great ventilation, is very clean and the light dimming technology was great in conjunction with the low light class. I had a great experience and am signing up for additional classes at Ultimate Protection Academy.

This training classes has much to offer even to the most experienced shooters. Took class on low or no light training. This was most informative, in different ways to hold the light both as a weapon of self defense and uses to hold the light at different positions for your best protection situation. I would take the class again just to improve my proficiencies. You know as I think about the number of guns on the streets and concealed. It would not be a bad idea that safety classes be taken by everyone. This does not have to be a stressful event but to have the knowledge on situations and how to defuse the confrontation is not a bad idea.

Just took the CPL class yesterday with my husband. Honestly, I was a little anxious, not practicing a lot with my gun. I thought they took extra time and had plenty of staff who were helpful at assisting everyone with safe technique using their firearms. Signed up for another class, safe environment, and their very particular on safety gear which they have on hand if you don’t have your own. Loved Mary, she’s great!

As a "never held a handgun" beginner; Mary and her team were fantastic! They are patient with teaching the basics of handling the weapon with a great emphasis on safety. I found out shooting at the target is lots of fun. This is the place to go to learn about self defense and using weapons. I look forward to more training sessions.

My ccw permit is up for renewal. I have been nervous about going to the range because my initial training was so vague. I went to the range today and feel so much more comfortable about everything. I’m looking forward to another lesson and then my renewal class. Mary was patient, thorough, and knowledgeable. She was clear with instruction and pleasant at all times. The facility is clean and well lit. The entire staff was friendly and encouraging. I am uncomfortable in groups that I am unfamiliar with and they smoothed my fears away. I also love that it is a lead free “green” environment

My wife took a gun class here taught by Mary and was very happy! I stayed in the lobby and watched her training while interacting with Al, Barbie and Angela. You can sign up for classes online and they offer everything for beginners to experienced shooters. The entire staff was extremely pleasant, patient and answered all of our questions. The actual gun range itself is about 5 or 6 lanes. Not overly big, but large enough to be comfortable. It's also lead free and the instructors all preach/teach SAFETY 1st upon entry!!!

Very professional Lead Free range. The owners are great, as well as the staff. They teach how to handle a gun safely, how to fire a gun, and they offer CPL classes and testing. I never thought I’d enjoy the sport of shooting, but I love the challenge, they make it fun. I highly recommend them.

I like how this place takes safety seriously. They have rules in place that most other places dont have. Each place has it's own policies for their respective venues, but this place wants to find out who you are coming in. I like that.

I took a class from them a few years ago, which was well-run and loaded with information, but it doesn't stop with the class. I have had the occasion to follow up with them on a few things since then and let me tell you there is not a friendlier or more knowledgeable group out there. Always responsive and they treat you like family. Mary and Allen are the real deal.

Back in January I asked a friend to take me to a shooting range. He told me if I wanted to get serious then call Ultimate Protection. Best decisions I could have made. Took a couple private shooting lessons and their CPL class. They also assisted and helping me purchase my first hand gun. Call or email anyone from their staff, they are all helpful and knowledgeable. I appreciate how much they take things serious but also known how to have fun.

My wife, my dad, and myself took their gun safety class tonight. Mary was extremely helpful, and seems 100% invested into training the students. It felt like I have known her and the range for years. My wife has never shot a weapon, and she is left handed. Mary helped my wife feel calm and comfortable with her firearm. If I had one tiny thing to knit pick, it would be feeling slightly pressured to sign up for more classes, or purchase a product I haven't done research on yet. On the other hand, this company is privately owned (husband and wife) and its important to always plug products and encourage new classes for profitability, I get that. Aside from that, I have nothing but great things to say about Mary and the gentleman assisting her which was Chris. She was firm, but fair. We cannot wait to take the CPL class this Saturday. I hope we get the same service and knowledge that we received tonight. I felt extremely comfortable handling my firearm once Mary stepped into the range. So far so good, I will update this review on Saturday evening after the CPL class.

As promised, an update to the CPL Class. I took the class with my wife, Dad, and Father In-Law. They truly encourage a family atmosphere. There were times where it felt rushed, but in the same breathe, there is a ton of material to cover in one day. The best part of the CPL class was the range time. They have a state of the art range that is completely 100% LEAD FREE. If you don't know what that means, look it up! I have two little kids at home and I never want to expose them to lead. Its dangerous for them, and super dangerous to adults. Mary and Al seem to love what they do, it shows through their knowledge and teaching at the range. I love what they are trying to promote, and I will be returning for future classes.

I've been to several of the area ranges and this one was the cleanest, by a long shot. It was bright, had clear air and is in excellent condition. Being a lead-free range was a new idea for me, but I found their education on that subject really enlightening. They also offer an ammunition option that reduces the noise of firing a gun, by a lot! It was amazing! They have a great staff, who really work to make sure anyone (including women!) can feel comfortable asking questions and becoming a better informed gun owner, or just improving their abilities. No other range in the area made me feel comfortable enough to go by myself, but they did!

This year I purchased my first handgun and needed the best possible location to learn how to use it properly. I did check out other places to train. A good friend strongly recommended Ultimate Protection.The instructors, staff every one I have worked with are awesome. If you a first time shooter or need to refresh you skill set this is an excellent place.Mary and Allen have put together an excellent staff and facility, don't go anywhere else. BONUS, its lead free.

This is a great place to learn to shoot ran by a nice couple! Signed my wife and son on to a first shots class to get their feet wet and my wife had enough fun with it to take more classes and soon purchase her own firearm. They offer a large range of classes and some even designed for the youngsters. Ultimate Protection Academy is very family friendly and they focus on safety as top priority. Also a Lead free range.....Glad a place like this is available.

I worked with Al to arrange for an heirloom rifle to get transferred to California. He worked diligently and patiently through all of the (demanding) paperwork requirements. He was friendly and professional!As a bonus, I got to tour the range - and it was immaculate. By far the cleanest and best organized range I've visited. I'll definitely come back for some training classes the next time I am back in Michigan!

I took my childen to learn about gun safety and tips to fight off an abductor. The instructor and owners are knowledgeable and friendly. Their classes kept the children engaged. They had fun while learning. I recommend this program for all children.

This was my first proper experience with a firearm. I did the beginners handgun course and it was very informative. One of the owners, Mary, was the instructor and she did a wonderful job explaining the basics and safety rules, down to the proper grip and aiming. The pricing is very reasonable and the one on one instruction is super helpful. I liked it so much, I signed up for an additional class. Definitely recommend to friends and family.

As someone who was uncomfortable with guns Mary was wonderful. She made me feel comfortable and taught me a lot in a short time. Safety is paramount here. Much more so than other ranges. I would highly recommend the staff here for lessons or their variety of classes.

SORRY THIS MAYBE LONG...I took CPL class here. it's a vary Clean place , they are well informed, respectful and all around nice people. I was nervous , but within 15 min that Feeling was gone. They made you feel comfortable, Like you've known them for years. i realized just taking a CPL class to have a gun is not the only way to Protect yourself and your family , i want to know what i could do before i pulled out my gun. So i set up a class this week and i will be taking more classes in the future. I normally don't write reviews but I highly recommend and encourage you to check this place out. You will not be disappointed. GREAT JOB ULTIMATE!!!!!

My Wife and I had a private lesson in beginner handgun training. Our instructor was Mary who was absolutely amazing. Very thoroughly and in-depth throughout the lesson, providing great detail with every step. I was nervous going in, but now have confidence in handling and firing a handgun. I’m looking forward to taking my next course with Mary or any other staff member (if need be), as everyone we encountered was very helpful and knowledgeable during our time in their facility.

Just used UPFTA, for my renewal CPL license and was very happy with their program. The classroom and range time instructors are top notch and their lead free range was second to none. Would recommend you give them a try for whatever your gun range needs are, for pistol shooting. Remember it's a lead free range so you'll need lead free Ammo for your pistols. Suggest you visit their website for range details, for this is a Safety First Gun Range, and you need to know their rules.

Mary is great, and the staff is just as wonderful at Ultimate Protection Firearm Training Academy. I couldn't more please and satisfied with how they treated myself, my son, and my husband. The class accommodated my sense of fear as a mother and woman not having much experience with firearms. The fact I could have my son in the same class and confident enough I could feel comfortable enough to focus and learn too. This a great place to go with the family, learn gun safety for everyone in the household. I would highly recommend this place for a great night out with the family. TBH, I have spent more taking my family to the movies and on my children’s shoes than I did taking the Gun Safety class. Great gift idea for those you just don’t know what to buy;)

While I have been shooting for a while, this was my first time taking the required class for Michigan's CPL. Not only do Al and Mary care about meeting the state's required instruction, they provide a lot of practical information on how to remain safe and avoid/escape/evade potentially dangerous situations. Most importantly, the STRONGLY emphasize safety and safe gun handling. They didn't use the day to up-sell their own advanced courses, focusing on making sure their students were best prepared to purchase/own a handgun. If 6-stars was possible, I would probably give them a 6.

I was visiting from North Carolina last week with my girlfriend and had the pleasure of visiting this *clean* indoor shooting range. I hadn't shot indoor in a couple years, but I immediately noticed the lack of any "out of place" bullet damage as I've seen in most other ranges. The range safety officer was professional and courteous. I respect that these folks go the extra mile to ensure safety and do not simply allow anyone claiming to be "John Wayne" to come in and put holes in the ceiling. I have been to many ranges in North Carolina and I've even had the pleasure of having a condition 0 Mac 10 pointed at me by a ~12 year old girl at one of the less regulated ones. That simply would not happen at this range. The range safety officers make the experience as safe as it gets, and that is worth whatever extra effort it takes. These folks really know what they are doing and have all kinds of safety and combat training that I would gladly sign up for if I was living in the area. They even have a laser shooting system for all ages to enjoy in and out of the range (I didn't get to try the live fire laser shooting system, but it sounded cool!). The owners are genuinely good wholesome people and I would be proud to be a member of UPA if I lived in Detroit. Thank you Mary and Al!

It was my very first time shooting and I was so scared to go! Immediately was put to ease by how safe and LEAD FREE it was. They take the time to train you right and do not make you feel uneasy to ask questions. They really care a lot about safety and it meant a lot to me. The owners were so welcoming and really made me comfortable to shoot and shoot right. 10/10 would recommend! They even have women’s self defense classes. Don’t go anywhere else. Also ask for Chris Prohm, excellent trainer!!

I took my first course with Al and Mary over four years ago (CPL). I was new to concealed carry, I did not know what to expect. I spent my life around law enforcement officers. As my uncle was a Detroit Police officer and many of my neighbors were police officers also. So I have had plenty of experience with guns, gun ranges and gun safety. I found their instruction invaluable. Their attention to detail was amazing. I learned so much more than I expected. Since then I have taken most of the training courses offered by them. My wife and daughter have also taken many training courses too including women's self defense. The courses I have taken are as follows:CPL,Draw from the holster,Deadly force,AR rifle,Gun cleaning (both handgun and AR rifle),Getting to Know your gun,Handgun retention,Taser,Plus many private lessons.This training has made me a much better target shooter and a expert on safe gun handeling and storage. The range located at 35965 Groesbeck Hwy in Clinton Twp, MI is a state of the art gun range. This is not only a well designed brand new facility in a recently remodeled building, but it is non-toxic or Lead Free. No other ranges in the area are Lead Free. Check that out for yourself on google. I highly recommend this facility for first time gun owners. Not only is the instruction top notch but you are in a clean safe training environment that is also environmentally responsible.I believe in this training center and Al and Mary so much that I regularly volunteer at their range as an instructor. So in conclusion I highly recommend this company and Al and Mary for all your firearms training, regardless of your skill set. You can always learn more, and this is the best place to do it at.

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience here. Mary answered my phone call immediately and set up all my classes for me. She was informative and patient with me and answered all my questions. I got to meet her and Al when I arrived for my first class and talk to both of them. They were both friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The facility was spotless. Not only did it look clean but it smelled and felt clean. It's obvious they care about their customers and their business as they take great pride in everything that they do. I purchased a handgun online and sent it to this dealer. When I picked it up I was kindly greeted and the entire process was pretty smooth. Especially during this time, it was nice to see how clean and sanitized everything was. Besides having a great transfer, I met the owners and they’re very knowledgeable, professional, and extremely helpful. If you look at their website you’ll see this is not your average gun range. This place is perfect for one on one trainings, all the classes you can think of to practice self defense, lots of fun range time for both adults and kids, and they’re COMPLETELY LEAD FREE! My husband and I are returning customers/clients. My first experience was back in 2014 and because of the welcoming feeling with all the information I received I have chosen to go back to get a new license(don't let your license expire). Mary and Al are not there to impress you but teach you and trust me, they are informative and they are there for you even after the class. I highly recommend!

Just used UPFTA, for my renewal CPL license and was very happy with their program. The classroom and range time instructors are top notch and their lead free range was second to none. Would recommend you give them a try for whatever your gun range needs are, for pistol shooting. Remember it's a lead free range so you'll need lead free Ammo for your pistols. Suggest you visit their website for range details, for this is a Safety First Gun Range, and you need to know their rules.

While I have been shooting for a while, this was my first time taking the required class for Michigan's CPL. Not only do Al and Mary care about meeting the state's required instruction, they provide a lot of practical information on how to remain safe and avoid/escape/evade potentially dangerous situations. Most importantly, the STRONGLY emphasize safety and safe gun handling. They didn't use the day to up-sell their own advanced courses, focusing on making sure their students were best prepared to purchase/own a handgun. If 6-stars was possible, I would probably give them a 6.

I was visiting from North Carolina last week with my girlfriend and had the pleasure of visiting this *clean* indoor shooting range. I hadn't shot indoor in a couple years, but I immediately noticed the lack of any "out of place" bullet damage as I've seen in most other ranges. The range safety officer was professional and courteous. I respect that these folks go the extra mile to ensure safety and do not simply allow anyone claiming to be "John Wayne" to come in and put holes in the ceiling. I have been to many ranges in North Carolina and I've even had the pleasure of having a condition 0 Mac 10 pointed at me by a ~12 year old girl at one of the less regulated ones. That simply would not happen at this range. The range safety officers make the experience as safe as it gets, and that is worth whatever extra effort it takes. These folks really know what they are doing and have all kinds of safety and combat training that I would gladly sign up for if I was living in the area. They even have a laser shooting system for all ages to enjoy in and out of the range (I didn't get to try the live fire laser shooting system, but it sounded cool!). The owners are genuinely good wholesome people and I would be proud to be a member of UPA if I lived in Detroit. Thank you Mary and Al!

It was my very first time shooting and I was so scared to go! Immediately was put to ease by how safe and LEAD FREE it was. They take the time to train you right and do not make you feel uneasy to ask questions. They really care a lot about safety and it meant a lot to me. The owners were so welcoming and really made me comfortable to shoot and shoot right. 10/10 would recommend! They even have women’s self defense classes. Don’t go anywhere else. Also ask for Chris Prohm, excellent trainer!!

I took my first course with Al and Mary over four years ago (CPL). I was new to concealed carry, I did not know what to expect. I spent my life around law enforcement officers. As my uncle was a Detroit Police officer and many of my neighbors were police officers also. So I have had plenty of experience with guns, gun ranges and gun safety. I found their instruction invaluable. Their attention to detail was amazing. I learned so much more than I expected. Since then I have taken most of the training courses offered by them. My wife and daughter have also taken many training courses too including women's self defense. The courses I have taken are as follows:CPL,Draw from the holster,Deadly force,AR rifle,Gun cleaning (both handgun and AR rifle),Getting to Know your gun,Handgun retention,Taser,Plus many private lessons.This training has made me a much better target shooter and a expert on safe gun handeling and storage. The range located at 35965 Groesbeck Hwy in Clinton Twp, MI is a state of the art gun range. This is not only a well designed brand new facility in a recently remodeled building, but it is non-toxic or Lead Free. No other ranges in the area are Lead Free. Check that out for yourself on google. I highly recommend this facility for first time gun owners. Not only is the instruction top notch but you are in a clean safe training environment that is also environmentally responsible.I believe in this training center and Al and Mary so much that I regularly volunteer at their range as an instructor. So in conclusion I highly recommend this company and Al and Mary for all your firearms training, regardless of your skill set. You can always learn more, and this is the best place to do it at.

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience here. Mary answered my phone call immediately and set up all my classes for me. She was informative and patient with me and answered all my questions. I got to meet her and Al when I arrived for my first class and talk to both of them. They were both friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The facility was spotless. Not only did it look clean but it smelled and felt clean. It's obvious they care about their customers and their business as they take great pride in everything that they do. I purchased a handgun online and sent it to this dealer. When I picked it up I was kindly greeted and the entire process was pretty smooth. Especially during this time, it was nice to see how clean and sanitized everything was. I recently took the Shooting in Low Light class. The instructor was terrific and a really nice guy. His background and experience as a trainer was evident. He provided very relevant information and great training on the range. I recommend this class. The range also is really nice. Has great ventilation, is very clean and the light dimming technology was great in conjunction with the low light class. I had a great experience and am signing up for additional classes at Ultimate Protection Academy.

This training classes has much to offer even to the most experienced shooters. Took class on low or no light training. This was most informative, in different ways to hold the light both as a weapon of self defense and uses to hold the light at different positions for your best protection situation. I would take the class again just to improve my proficiencies. You know as I think about the number of guns on the streets and concealed. It would not be a bad idea that safety classes be taken by everyone. This does not have to be a stressful event but to have the knowledge on situations and how to defuse the confrontation is not a bad idea.

Just took the CPL class yesterday with my husband. Honestly, I was a little anxious, not practicing a lot with my gun. I thought they took extra time and had plenty of staff who were helpful at assisting everyone with safe technique using their firearms. Signed up for another class, safe environment, and their very particular on safety gear which they have on hand if you don’t have your own. Loved Mary, she’s great!

As a "never held a handgun" beginner; Mary and her team were fantastic! They are patient with teaching the basics of handling the weapon with a great emphasis on safety. My ccw permit is up for renewal. I have been nervous about going to the range because my initial training was so vague. I went to the range today and feel so much more comfortable about everything. I’m looking forward to another lesson and then my renewal class. Mary was patient, thorough, and knowledgeable. She was clear with instruction and pleasant at all times. The facility is clean and well lit. The entire staff was friendly and encouraging. I am uncomfortable in groups that I am unfamiliar with and they smoothed my fears away. My wife took a gun class here taught by Mary and was very happy! I stayed in the lobby and watched her training while interacting with Al, Barbie and Angela. You can sign up for classes online and they offer everything for beginners to experienced shooters. The entire staff was extremely pleasant, patient and answered all of our questions. The actual gun range itself is about 5 or 6 lanes. Not overly big, but large enough to be comfortable. It's also lead free and the instructors all preach/teach SAFETY 1st upon entry!!!

Very professional Lead Free range. The owners are great, as well as the staff. They teach how to handle a gun safely, how to fire a gun, and they offer CPL classes and testing. I never thought I’d enjoy the sport of shooting, but I love the challenge, they make it fun. I highly recommend them.

Back in January I asked a friend to take me to a shooting range. He told me if I wanted to get serious then call Ultimate Protection. Best decisions I could have made. Took a couple private shooting lessons and their CPL class. They also assisted and helping me purchase my first hand gun. My wife, my dad, and myself took their gun safety class tonight. Mary was extremely helpful, and seems 100% invested into training the students. It felt like I have known her and the range for years. My wife has never shot a weapon, and she is left handed. Mary helped my wife feel calm and comfortable with her firearm. If I had one tiny thing to knit pick, it would be feeling slightly pressured to sign up for more classes, or purchase a product I haven't done research on yet. On the other hand, this company is privately owned (husband and wife) and its important to always plug products and encourage new classes for profitability, I get that. Aside from that, I have nothing but great things to say about Mary and the gentleman assisting her which was Chris. She was firm, but fair. We cannot wait to take the CPL class this Saturday. I hope we get the same service and knowledge that we received tonight. I felt extremely comfortable handling my firearm once Mary stepped into the range. So far so good, I will update this review on Saturday evening after the CPL class.

As promised, an update to the CPL Class. I took the class with my wife, Dad, and Father In-Law. They truly encourage a family atmosphere. There were times where it felt rushed, but in the same breathe, there is a ton of material to cover in one day. The best part of the CPL class was the range time. They have a state of the art range that is completely 100% LEAD FREE. If you don't know what that means, look it up! I have two little kids at home and I never want to expose them to lead. Its dangerous for them, and super dangerous to adults. Mary and Al seem to love what they do, it shows through their knowledge and teaching at the range. I love what they are trying to promote, and I will be returning for future classes.

I've been to several of the area ranges and this one was the cleanest, by a long shot. It was bright, had clear air and is in excellent condition. Being a lead-free range was a new idea for me, but I found their education on that subject really enlightening. They also offer an ammunition option that reduces the noise of firing a gun, by a lot! It was amazing! They have a great staff, who really work to make sure anyone (including women!) can feel comfortable asking questions and becoming a better informed gun owner, or just improving their abilities. No other range in the area made me feel comfortable enough to go by myself, but they did!

This is a great place to learn to shoot ran by a nice couple! I worked with Al to arrange for an heirloom rifle to get transferred to California. He worked diligently and patiently through all of the (demanding) paperwork requirements. This was my first proper experience with a firearm. I did the beginners handgun course and it was very informative. One of the owners, Mary, was the instructor and she did a wonderful job explaining the basics and safety rules, down to the proper grip and aiming. The pricing is very reasonable and the one on one instruction is super helpful. I liked it so much, I signed up for an additional class. Definitely recommend to friends and family.

Mary is great, and the staff is just as wonderful at Ultimate Protection Firearm Training Academy. I couldn't more please and satisfied with how they treated myself, my son, and my husband. The class accommodated my sense of fear as a mother and woman not having much experience with firearms. The fact I could have my son in the same class and confident enough I could feel comfortable enough to focus and learn too. This a great place to go with the family, learn gun safety for everyone in the household. I would highly recommend this place for a great night out with the family. TBH, I have spent more taking my family to the movies and on my children’s shoes than I did taking the Gun Safety class. Great gift idea for those you just don’t know what to buy;)

SORRY THIS MAYBE LONG...I took CPL class here. it's a vary Clean place , they are well informed, respectful and all around nice people. I was nervous , but within 15 min that Feeling was gone. They made you feel comfortable, Like you've known them for years. i realized just taking a CPL class to have a gun is not the only way to Protect yourself and your family , i want to know what i could do before i pulled out my gun. So i set up a class this week and i will be taking more classes in the future. I normally don't write reviews but I highly recommend and encourage you to check this place out. My Wife and I had a private lesson in beginner handgun training. Our instructor was Mary who was absolutely amazing. Very thoroughly and in-depth throughout the lesson, providing great detail with every step. I was nervous going in, but now have confidence in handling and firing a handgun. It was my very first time shooting and I was so scared to go! Immediately was put to ease by how safe and LEAD FREE it was. They take the time to train you right and do not make you feel uneasy to ask questions. They really care a lot about safety and it meant a lot to me. The owners were so welcoming and really made me comfortable to shoot and shoot right. 10/10 would recommend! They even have women’s self defense classes. Don’t go anywhere else. Also ask for Chris Prohm, excellent trainer!!

Everyone here is awesome and extremely helpful. They're extremely focused on safety and ensure everyone handles even the practice guns with appropriate care. Mary is extremely knowledgeable and excellent instructor. The classes are well worth the price.

Ultimate Protection is the best place for training! I had a great time at my CPL renewal class! Great instruction from Mary!! Mary and Allen are so accommodating and work with you personally to give you the best training possible. I highly recommend Ultimate Protection for any level of shooter. Excellent customer service!

I have gone to UPA multiple times since October 2019 and I love it! I joined the Mary's Angels and Mary and Al know so much! I also volunteer there and love the other volunteers too! Everyone has different experience levels and they all help you out! Definitely a good place to get involved in their community!

I took my first course with Al and Mary over four years ago (CPL). I was new to concealed carry, I did not know what to expect. I spent my life around law enforcement officers. As my uncle was a Detroit Police officer and many of my neighbors were police officers also. So I have had plenty of experience with guns, gun ranges and gun safety. I found their instruction invaluable. Their attention to detail was amazing. I learned so much more than I expected. Since then I have taken most of the training courses offered by them. My wife and daughter have also taken many training courses too including women's self defense. The courses I have taken are as follows:CPL,Draw from the holster,Deadly force,AR rifle,Gun cleaning (both handgun and AR rifle),Getting to Know your gun,Handgun retention,Taser,Plus many private lessons.This training has made me a much better target shooter and a expert on safe gun handeling and storage. The range located at 35965 Groesbeck Hwy in Clinton Twp, MI is a state of the art gun range. This is not only a well designed brand new facility in a recently remodeled building, but it is non-toxic or Lead Free. No other ranges in the area are Lead Free. Check that out for yourself on google. I highly recommend this facility for first time gun owners. Not only is the instruction top notch but you are in a clean safe training environment that is also environmentally responsible.I believe in this training center and Al and Mary so much that I regularly volunteer at their range as an instructor. So in conclusion I highly recommend this company and Al and Mary for all your firearms training, regardless of your skill set. You can always learn more, and this is the best place to do it at.

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience here. Mary answered my phone call immediately and set up all my classes for me. She was informative and patient with me and answered all my questions. I got to meet her and Al when I arrived for my first class and talk to both of them. They were both friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The facility was spotless. Not only did it look clean but it smelled and felt clean. It's obvious they care about their customers and their business as they take great pride in everything that they do. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for classes or just somewhere to go shooting. And I almost forgot to mention the free coffee and donuts. Awesome experience. 5 stars!

I purchased a handgun online and sent it to this dealer. When I picked it up I was kindly greeted and the entire process was pretty smooth. Especially during this time, it was nice to see how clean and sanitized everything was. Besides having a great transfer, I met the owners and they’re very knowledgeable, professional, and extremely helpful. If you look at their website you’ll see this is not your average gun range. This place is perfect for one on one trainings, all the classes you can think of to practice self defense, lots of fun range time for both adults and kids, and they’re COMPLETELY LEAD FREE! Do your research and understand how important that is for your health. Make sure to stop by, you’re gonna love this place!

My husband and I are returning customers/clients. My first experience was back in 2014 and because of the welcoming feeling with all the information I received I have chosen to go back to get a new license(don't let your license expire). Mary and Al are not there to impress you but teach you and trust me, they are informative and they are there for you even after the class. I highly recommend!

First experience at a range and I'll be back. Mary and her staff are amazing! They truly take the time to educate and inform instead of just telling you what to do. I felt comfortable throughout the training process and even more with the fact that they are a lead free range! Overall great experience!

I recently took the Shooting in Low Light class. The instructor was terrific and a really nice guy. His background and experience as a trainer was evident. He provided very relevant information and great training on the range. I recommend this class. The range also is really nice. Has great ventilation, is very clean and the light dimming technology was great in conjunction with the low light class. I had a great experience and am signing up for additional classes at Ultimate Protection Academy.

This training classes has much to offer even to the most experienced shooters. Took class on low or no light training. This was most informative, in different ways to hold the light both as a weapon of self defense and uses to hold the light at different positions for your best protection situation. I would take the class again just to improve my proficiencies. You know as I think about the number of guns on the streets and concealed. It would not be a bad idea that safety classes be taken by everyone. This does not have to be a stressful event but to have the knowledge on situations and how to defuse the confrontation is not a bad idea.

Just took the CPL class yesterday with my husband. Honestly, I was a little anxious, not practicing a lot with my gun. I thought they took extra time and had plenty of staff who were helpful at assisting everyone with safe technique using their firearms. Signed up for another class, safe environment, and their very particular on safety gear which they have on hand if you don’t have your own. Loved Mary, she’s great!

If you want to gain knowledge, great training, confidence with a fire arm, this is the place to go. I took the CPL class, went to ladies night out and have taken personal lessons. Mary and Barbie are awesome! I have learned so much from Barbie she is so patient and helps you gain confidence I can't say enough good things about this place! They treat you like family

As a "never held a handgun" beginner; Mary and her team were fantastic! They are patient with teaching the basics of handling the weapon with a great emphasis on safety. I found out shooting at the target is lots of fun. This is the place to go to learn about self defense and using weapons. I look forward to more training sessions.

My ccw permit is up for renewal. I have been nervous about going to the range because my initial training was so vague. I went to the range today and feel so much more comfortable about everything. I’m looking forward to another lesson and then my renewal class. Mary was patient, thorough, and knowledgeable. She was clear with instruction and pleasant at all times. The facility is clean and well lit. The entire staff was friendly and encouraging. I am uncomfortable in groups that I am unfamiliar with and they smoothed my fears away. I also love that it is a lead free “green” environment

My wife took a gun class here taught by Mary and was very happy! I stayed in the lobby and watched her training while interacting with Al, Barbie and Angela. You can sign up for classes online and they offer everything for beginners to experienced shooters. The entire staff was extremely pleasant, patient and answered all of our questions. The actual gun range itself is about 5 or 6 lanes. Not overly big, but large enough to be comfortable. It's also lead free and the instructors all preach/teach SAFETY 1st upon entry!!!

The team came to our office to do a firearm safety program, and it was very informative. We were so impressed, that we created a company wide CPL certification class for our team. Bravo to the UPFTA for their excellent work!

Very professional Lead Free range. The owners are great, as well as the staff. They teach how to handle a gun safely, how to fire a gun, and they offer CPL classes and testing. I never thought I’d enjoy the sport of shooting, but I love the challenge, they make it fun. I highly recommend them.

Took a private training with Mary. She's an extrememly skilled trainer, I highly recommend for novice or skilled shooters. The facility is also very secure with good ventilation and acoustics.

I like how this place takes safety seriously. They have rules in place that most other places dont have. Each place has it's own policies for their respective venues, but this place wants to find out who you are coming in. I like that.

Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. They have a great class that teaches you a lot. They were also very accommodating for me and my injury. Top notch instruction. I went for personal instruction and had a great experience! Mary was awesome to work with and will definitely return to her for future instruction. I took a class from them a few years ago, which was well-run and loaded with information, but it doesn't stop with the class. I have had the occasion to follow up with them on a few things since then and let me tell you there is not a friendlier or more knowledgeable group out there. Always responsive and they treat you like family. Mary and Allen are the real deal.

Back in January I asked a friend to take me to a shooting range. He told me if I wanted to get serious then call Ultimate Protection. Best decisions I could have made. Took a couple private shooting lessons and their CPL class. They also assisted and helping me purchase my first hand gun. Call or email anyone from their staff, they are all helpful and knowledgeable. I appreciate how much they take things serious but also known how to have fun.

My wife, my dad, and myself took their gun safety class tonight. Mary was extremely helpful, and seems 100% invested into training the students. It felt like I have known her and the range for years. My wife has never shot a weapon, and she is left handed. Mary helped my wife feel calm and comfortable with her firearm. If I had one tiny thing to knit pick, it would be feeling slightly pressured to sign up for more classes, or purchase a product I haven't done research on yet. On the other hand, this company is privately owned (husband and wife) and its important to always plug products and encourage new classes for profitability, I get that. Aside from that, I have nothing but great things to say about Mary and the gentleman assisting her which was Chris. She was firm, but fair. We cannot wait to take the CPL class this Saturday. I hope we get the same service and knowledge that we received tonight. I felt extremely comfortable handling my firearm once Mary stepped into the range. So far so good, I will update this review on Saturday evening after the CPL class.

As promised, an update to the CPL Class. I took the class with my wife, Dad, and Father In-Law. They truly encourage a family atmosphere. There were times where it felt rushed, but in the same breathe, there is a ton of material to cover in one day. The best part of the CPL class was the range time. They have a state of the art range that is completely 100% LEAD FREE. If you don't know what that means, look it up! I have two little kids at home and I never want to expose them to lead. Its dangerous for them, and super dangerous to adults. Mary and Al seem to love what they do, it shows through their knowledge and teaching at the range. I love what they are trying to promote, and I will be returning for future classes.

Mary is an amazing instructor. She is so enthusiastic about shooting and is ultra safety conscious. She is a confidence builder. That quality of hers helped me, a novice shooter, relax and become comfortable with a firearm. Two lessons with her helped me succeed. Take a lesson with her. You won’t be disappointed.

I've been to several of the area ranges and this one was the cleanest, by a long shot. It was bright, had clear air and is in excellent condition. Being a lead-free range was a new idea for me, but I found their education on that subject really enlightening. They also offer an ammunition option that reduces the noise of firing a gun, by a lot! It was amazing! They have a great staff, who really work to make sure anyone (including women!) can feel comfortable asking questions and becoming a better informed gun owner, or just improving their abilities. No other range in the area made me feel comfortable enough to go by myself, but they did!

This year I purchased my first handgun and needed the best possible location to learn how to use it properly. I did check out other places to train. A good friend strongly recommended Ultimate Protection.The instructors, staff every one I have worked with are awesome. If you a first time shooter or need to refresh you skill set this is an excellent place.Mary and Allen have put together an excellent staff and facility, don't go anywhere else. BONUS, its lead free.

This is a great place to learn to shoot ran by a nice couple! Signed my wife and son on to a first shots class to get their feet wet and my wife had enough fun with it to take more classes and soon purchase her own firearm. They offer a large range of classes and some even designed for the youngsters. Ultimate Protection Academy is very family friendly and they focus on safety as top priority. Also a Lead free range.....Glad a place like this is available.

I worked with Al to arrange for an heirloom rifle to get transferred to California. He worked diligently and patiently through all of the (demanding) paperwork requirements. He was friendly and professional!As a bonus, I got to tour the range - and it was immaculate. By far the cleanest and best organized range I've visited. I'll definitely come back for some training classes the next time I am back in Michigan!

I recently took a CPL class with Ultimate and I’d have to say that I very much enjoyed it. I usually don’t write reviews but I really feel like I gained so much from this class as well as the instructors and staff. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable, and time actually flew by. I’d definitely recommend!

I took my childen to learn about gun safety and tips to fight off an abductor. The instructor and owners are knowledgeable and friendly. Their classes kept the children engaged. They had fun while learning. I recommend this program for all children.

This was my first proper experience with a firearm. I did the beginners handgun course and it was very informative. One of the owners, Mary, was the instructor and she did a wonderful job explaining the basics and safety rules, down to the proper grip and aiming. The pricing is very reasonable and the one on one instruction is super helpful. I liked it so much, I signed up for an additional class. Definitely recommend to friends and family.

As someone who was uncomfortable with guns Mary was wonderful. She made me feel comfortable and taught me a lot in a short time. Safety is paramount here. Much more so than other ranges. I would highly recommend the staff here for lessons or their variety of classes.
